Upcycled football practice jersey with sashiko right shoulder restructure using cotton sashiko thread and thin striped denim. About 20 hours of hand stitching and lots of experimentation.
I tied the back of the stitching together by running a third thread through the inside of the piece, weaving it through every “t“ stitch to connect them. This ensures that theres not only strength at every stitch, however, throughout the entire row of stitching.
I left the left shoulder untouched to allow the stark contrast between the shoulders to be felt.
The collar has five hand mends throughout to reattach it to the jersey.
Through some hand mending, I was able to extend the life of this piece and give it new purpose <3
The work done to this piece is as perfect on the inside as it is on the outside. If you’re really feeling ambitious, wear it inside out!
